Ron English at The Space

fucked up.The guy who painted that creepy ass art featured in the documentary, Supersize Me, is going to be showing some of his work here in Austin. The theme of his stuff is pretty much along the lines of defacing corporate mascots and freakishly distorting marketing slogans to serve his own radical agenda. Punk rock dude! We usually go for a more subtle brand of satire, but Ron English’s stuff is probably worth checking out. Also a great outing if you are dating a vegan.
You can check it out May 26-28 at The Space. Directions below.

Art Cars On Parade

C'art. They say you are what you drive. So I guess if you’re car is an El Dorado decorated to look like a giant goat then… well, you might have trouble picking up dates. Not this weekend though, because the third annual Art Car Parade is (literally) rolling in to town. So if you’ve been seeing some pretty abnormal automobiles this is the likely explaination (although it could be one of those rogue art cars). If you haven’t guessed, the Art Car Parade involves a procession of painstakenly decorated cars down Congress Ave., starting at the capitol and eventually ending in the Congress Ave. Baptist Church parking lot on South Congress, where a so-called “car-nival” takes place. The parade takes place this Saturday, April 16 at 11:30am, with that kooky “car-nival” going from 1:30-4:30pm. We can honestly say that the art on display is quite “moving”. (Sorry.)
