Dave Attell’s Insomniac Tour

Headshot.Remember that Insomniac episode in Austin? Yeah we thought it was pretty frightening also, but at least we fared better than some of the other cities comedian Dave Attell visited. Anyway, if you think Attell is funny then you’re in for a treat, because his Insomniac tour (you know, the commercials on Comedy Central where he’s riding around in a ridiculous bus) is on its way to the Austin Music Hall. Dave will be whippin it out on Friday, May 13; doors at 8 show at 9. So get your tickets soon.

Killfloor Goes Mobile

Tired of spending most of your day in situations where you can’t read Killfloor? Were you ever taking a crap and all of the sudden had an overwhelming urge to find out what the hell to do Saturday night? Your day has finally come, for Killfloor is now available on your mobile phone or PDA. Amazing! You can read all the latest entries by date or by category, and there’s even a nifty feature where you can submit a field report to tell others about a bitchin’ party you’re at or your band’s show (please do not submit a field report about how big your penis is). If the field report thing works out we’ll add a feature to the site where you can view what people send in.
To access this awesomeness just type “http://winksite.com/killfloor/mobile” into your phone or PDA’s web browser, and be sure to bookmark it so you can get back easily.

University of Texas Fashion Show

Austin’s not much of a high-end fashion town; Nordstrom in Barton Creek Mall is probably as good as it gets here. As far as viewing a fashion show, that’s right out. A fashion show in Austin just doesn’t happen (unless all of the clothes are made of hemp or something). But we’ve got news; it does happen. At least it will happen this Friday, April 22 at the Frank Erwin Center as UT students from the Department of Human Ecology’s Division of Textiles and Apparel (we guess that means fashion) show off some pretty clothes. The doors will open for an exhibition at 5pm with the fashion show starting at 8. Is this the beginning of an Austin fashion scene? Probably not, although we could use more supermodels.

Art Cars On Parade

C'art. They say you are what you drive. So I guess if you’re car is an El Dorado decorated to look like a giant goat then… well, you might have trouble picking up dates. Not this weekend though, because the third annual Art Car Parade is (literally) rolling in to town. So if you’ve been seeing some pretty abnormal automobiles this is the likely explaination (although it could be one of those rogue art cars). If you haven’t guessed, the Art Car Parade involves a procession of painstakenly decorated cars down Congress Ave., starting at the capitol and eventually ending in the Congress Ave. Baptist Church parking lot on South Congress, where a so-called “car-nival” takes place. The parade takes place this Saturday, April 16 at 11:30am, with that kooky “car-nival” going from 1:30-4:30pm. We can honestly say that the art on display is quite “moving”. (Sorry.)

ACL Tickets On Sale, TOMORROW!

A throng. The Austin City Limits Festival organizers are going to try to do something about the massive crowds that have been showing up the past couple years. This means that there will be less tickets available, 10,000 less to be exact. So to prevent being one of those 10,000 that would have gotten a ticket you should know that three-day passes go on sale tomorrow: Friday, April 15. Hopefully you make more money than you did last year too, because the starting prices have risen $15 (Inflation?). $85 will get you a three-day pass (day passes will go on sale this summer). And when the first allotment of tickets runs out (which probably shouldn’t take too long) you can expect that price to go up again.
Of course they aren’t releasing the lineup until May 5, so you’ll just have to go on faith that they’ll get some good acts. Organizers are also planning to stagger the headliners more so there won’t be a huge traffic jam when everyone leaves. I’ll believe that when I see it.

To Coin A Phrase

“Simply defined a man date is two heterosexual men socializing without the crutch of business or sports. It is two guys meeting for the kind of outing a straight man might reasonably arrange with a woman. Dining together across a table without the aid of a television is a man date; eating at a bar is not. Taking a walk in the park together is a man date; going for a jog is not. Attending the movie ‘Friday Night Lights’ is a man date, but going to see the Jets play is definitely not.”

What about President Bush’s man date?

Bob Marley Fest

One love.If you like reggae music and you havn’t checked out Austin’s annual Bob Marley festival, then you must be really really stoned.
The festival is this weekend, April 16 and 17, at Auditorium Shores. Tickets are $7 for one day or $10 for both days. But make sure you bring two cans of food to donate to the Capital Area Food Bank. As usual, there are tons of reggae bands playing, and of course the wonderful smell of pot mixed with B.O.

Fall back, Spring forward

Spring is a time for renewal, among other things. And so Killfloor is born again, and with a new address. And kind of a new layout too. Once again I’ve disabled the comments, but I’ll put them back if enough people request them. Heh heh.
